The Challenge
Home Hardware needed to develop a customized training platform to quickly and effectively educate hundreds of warehouse employees on new Manhattan software and new warehouse processes for inventory management, shipping, and receiving. The challenge was to create a comprehensive training program that could be scaled across three large warehouse locations, ensuring consistency and uniformity in training delivery. The company sought the expertise of Manhattan’s Educational Services Organization (ESO) to assist with instructional design and learning content structure, and to help master the Manhattan FastTrack content authoring software.
About The Customer
Home Hardware Stores Limited is Canada’s largest dealer-owned hardware, lumber, and building materials and furniture cooperative, with close to 1,100 stores under various banners including Home Hardware, Home Building Centre, Home Hardware Building Centre, and Home Furniture. The Ontario-based company boasts annual retail sales of nearly $5.7 billion. Through its extensive network, Dealer-Owners have access to 100,000 quality brand name and private label products, distributed by a state-of-the-art supply chain management system. Recognized as one of Canada’s Best Managed Companies for the past three years, Home Hardware is committed to maintaining its growth and operational excellence.
The Solution
Manhattan Training Experts assisted Home Hardware with the FastTrack content authoring software and the instructional design of an extensive curriculum. This curriculum was scalable for three large warehouse locations. The solution involved hands-on, personal service and support from Manhattan Associates, who provided in-depth guidance and troubleshooting on-site. The development team at Home Hardware was trained to become self-sufficient in creating and managing their own training content. Manhattan Training Experts remained available to provide ongoing support and troubleshooting as needed. On-site assistance was also provided during the initial employee training process to ensure that feedback could be quickly integrated into the training modules.
