The Challenge
Caswell Inc., a small online retail company, was facing major issues with their existing business management software, Everest. The software was expensive, difficult to upgrade, and updates often led to several days of outages. The company was running as three separate online stores, and the software was not able to support multi-company operations. The breaking point came when the software's multi-company add-on product was no longer going to be supported. Caswell decided not to renew the software license and had just a few weeks to find a new solution.
About The Customer
Caswell Inc. is a small online retail company headquartered in Lyons, NY. The company has been in operation for the past 20 years and has an eclectic mix of automotive-related accessories. They run three separate online stores; one for plating kits and accessories, one for English-sized tools, and the third for long-tail motors for boats used by fishermen and hunters. The company was previously using Everest Software for their business management, but faced several issues with it. The company is run by Lance Caswell, who also serves as the one-man IT department. The company has a total of eight employees.
The Solution
Caswell decided to implement Acumatica's ERP solution. The implementation was done in just ten days, thanks to the dedication of Lance Caswell and the support from Cloud 9 ERP Solutions, an Acumatica Gold Certified Partner. The new system automated many processes, making the business much more efficient. The biggest time savings came from not having to print out separate orders, invoices, and receipts from Magento, the company’s online store, and input them into Everest. The new system also improved customer communications and inventory management. Acumatica relieved Caswell of much of the IT responsibility, saving him around 10 hours a month.
Operational Impact
  • Reduced invoicing from a full day’s work every day to one hour a day.
  • Eliminated days of downtime caused by software upgrades.
  • Reduced need for IT support by 10 hours a month.
Quantitative Benefit
  • Reduced invoicing time by approximately 87.5%.
  • Saved 10 hours a month on IT support.
  • Expected to grow more than 15 percent a year thanks to the fast growing Mud Skipper division.
