The Challenge
Fox Electronics, a global leader in frequency control products, faced the challenge of maintaining high standards of quality and efficiency while striving for continuous process improvements. The company needed to reduce cycle times for faster delivery and ensure compliance with stringent industry standards. Additionally, Fox Electronics required a robust system to manage the complexity of international shipping processes and integrate various internal and external systems to meet the unique needs of customers worldwide.
About The Customer
Fox Electronics is a global leader in frequency control products, providing a diverse line of high precision, high quality frequency control products to the worldwide electronics markets. The company is known for its advanced manufacturing facilities, which include state-of-the-art equipment operating under atmospherically controlled conditions, such as a Class-100 clean room. Fox Electronics is committed to producing innovative products that meet the most stringent industry standards and is recognized for its short lead times in the industry. The company continually strives to make dramatic cycle time improvements for faster delivery and has introduced patented technologies like the XpressO™ configurable oscillators to reduce delivery times and costs without compromising performance.
The Solution
To address its challenges, Fox Electronics implemented the Aras Innovator Solution Suite as its enterprise-wide PLM backbone. This implementation included concept development, engineering with integrated CAD management, change management, enterprise quality management, compliance, and closed-loop shipping and tracking. Aras provided enhanced collaboration and control over product-related information, speeding up time to market. For the XpressO product line, Aras helped redefine industry lead times from more than 10 weeks to 10 days or less. Additionally, Fox leveraged Aras to manage the complexity of international shipping processes by integrating with cloud-based online systems of leading carriers like FedEx, UPS, and DHL. This integration allowed for seamless management of pre-cartonning, permit processes, customer-specific barcodes, labeling, and shipping requirements on a country-by-country basis. Furthermore, Aras was integrated with Fox's ERP system from Infor to enable full traceability and tracking from product order and inventory selection to global delivery. This integration automated quality assurance processes across the company, providing a single version of the truth for continuous improvement and ISO 9001 compliance.

Remote Temperature Monitoring of Perishable Goods Saves Money
RMONI was facing temperature monitoring challenges in a cold chain business. A cold chain must be established and maintained to ensure goods have been properly refrigerated during every step of the process, making temperature monitoring a critical business function. Manual registration practice can be very costly, labor intensive and prone to mistakes.

Leveraging the IoT to Gain a Competitive Edge in International Competition
Many large manufacturers in and outside Japan are competing for larger market share in the same space, expecting a growing demand for projectors in the areas of entertainment, which requires glamor and strong visual performance as well as digital signage that can attract people’s attention. “It is becoming more and more difficult to differentiate ourselves with stand-alone hardware products,” says Kazuyuki Kitagawa, Director of Service & Support at Panasonic AVC Networks. “In order for Panasonic to grow market share and overall business, it is essential for us to develop solutions that deliver significant added value.” Panasonic believes projection failure and quality deterioration should never happen. This is what and has driven them to make their projectors IoT-enabled. More specifically, Panasonic has developed a system that collects data from projectors, visualizes detailed operational statuses, and predicts issues and address them before failure occurs. Their projectors are embedded with a variety of sensors that measure power supply, voltage, video input/ output signals, intake/exhaust air temperatures, cooling fan operations, and light bulb operating time. These sensors have been used to make the projector more intelligent, automatically suspending operation when the temperature rises excessively, and automatically switching light bulbs. Although this was a great first step, Panasonic projectors were still not equipped with any capability to send the data over a network.
