The Challenge
Bacco Construction, a Michigan-based construction company, was facing challenges with their existing estimating and bidding software, Hard Dollar. The company felt that the estimating function was being neglected as the software company prioritized other areas. Bacco Construction's requests for enhancements were ignored, and they were unable to export an estimating file into their accounting software. Additionally, the reporting functions were inadequate, requiring a third-party software for field reporting. Bacco Construction was in need of a solution that would address these issues and provide seamless integration for instant cost feedback in the field.
About The Customer
Bacco Construction is a construction company based in Iron Mountain, Michigan. Founded in 1915, the company has been prequalified with the Michigan Department of Transportation for over 70 years, making it the state’s oldest prequalified contractor. Bacco Construction provides a wide array of services to all of Michigan and Wisconsin, including paving, concrete, grading, sitework, and underground utility work. The company was using Hard Dollar (now InEight) estimating and bidding software for more than a decade before switching to B2W Software.
The Solution
Bacco Construction decided to switch to B2W Software after researching several solutions. They were impressed by the features and capabilities of B2W Estimate and B2W Track. The B2W elements run on Microsoft’s largest, fastest database, and are designed to look and feel like a familiar Microsoft application, making them intuitive and easy to learn. Bacco Construction was able to standardize their estimating and bidding utilizing centralized resources, including reusable task and item templates for repetitive work. The B2W Track interface allows executives, project managers, field engineers, and foremen at Bacco Construction to view and track real-time status information about jobs without installing software on their computers. The company saves time by importing data directly into their accounting software supplied by Viewpoint, one of B2W Software’s development partners.
Operational Impact
  • Increased operational efficiencies and accuracy for more profitable jobs
  • One operational database for single point data entry that enables instant cross module resource visibility and collaboration
  • Operational control through real-time dashboards with easy drill downs
