The Challenge
Bay Cove Human Services, a healthcare provider network, was seeking a solution to ensure HIPAA compliance without altering the user experience. They were using Google's G Suite as their productivity backbone and needed a solution that would provide secure access to G Suite from any device. The challenge was to find a solution that would not require invasive agents or any configuration, and would allow users to simply log in to G Suite from any browser and be securely routed to the app.
About The Customer
Bay Cove Human Services is a healthcare provider network that improves the quality of life for individuals and their families who face the life-long challenges of developmental disabilities, aging, mental illness, and drug and alcohol addiction. They use Google's G Suite as their productivity backbone. The organization is led by CIO Hilary Croach, who was seeking a solution to achieve compliance with HIPAA without altering the user experience for their users.
The Solution
Bay Cove Human Services deployed Bitglass Next-Gen CASB to ensure HIPAA compliance while providing transparent access to G Suite from any device. Bitglass' Omni multi-protocol proxies support secure access from any device, all without invasive agents, and no configuration required. Users simply log in to G Suite from any browser and are securely routed to the app. Bitglass’ comprehensive solution enabled Bay Cove to consolidate several other systems. The ability to selectively wipe corporate data from mobile devices without the need for any software agents on the device meant that Bay Cove didn’t have to purchase another solution for mobile device management. Bitglass’ Single Sign-On (SSO) capabilities, which integrate with Active Directory and extend security to any application supporting SAML authentication, eliminated the need to purchase a separate system for SSO.
Operational Impact
  • Transparent access to G Suite from any device while ensuring HIPAA compliance.
  • Consolidation of several systems into one comprehensive solution.
  • Ability to selectively wipe corporate data from mobile devices without the need for any software agents on the device.
Quantitative Benefit
  • Reduced costs by eliminating the need to purchase separate systems for mobile device management and Single Sign-On.
