Grupo Damm, a prestigious brewery based in Barcelona, Spain, was facing challenges with its outdated transportation management solutions. The company's supply chain had become more complex, and its customers were farther away. This made it extremely important for the company to tightly control the distribution chain through integrated systems and better meet its customers’ needs. The existing solutions, which were implemented more than a decade ago, were becoming outdated. To reduce manpower and administrative costs — while also leveraging additional capabilities in the software — Grupo Damm decided to upgrade its JDA transportation management solutions.

Headquartered in Barcelona, Spain, Grupo Damm is one of the most prestigious breweries in the Spanish market. The company has annual revenues of €880 million and a portfolio of award-winning, well-known brands including Estrella Damm, Voll-Damm, Xibeca and Estrella Levante. A long-time JDA Software customer, Grupo Damm recently made the decision to upgrade its JDA transportation management solutions to gain new functionality and control. The company's supply chain had become more complex, and its customers were farther away, making it extremely important for the company to tightly control the distribution chain through integrated systems and better meet its customers’ needs.
The Solution
Grupo Damm implemented new releases of JDA Transportation Manager, JDA Transportation Planner, JDA Fleet Management and JDA Reporting from JDA’s Intelligent Fulfillment™ solution. The upgrade improved Grupo Damm’s visibility into its trading partners and customers, which is essential to the company’s long-term strategy. As a result of the implementation, the company has been able to provide customers with improved service efficiency. Grupo Damm is also taking advantage of a number of new capabilities that are helping it increase its transportation agility, while cutting costs — particularly in the areas of dock scheduling, load building, equipment availability and event management. Today, the company can plan and optimize up to 1,000 partial orders, while considering resource availability across 13 different sources, multiple modes and using a complex tariff model.
