The Challenge
Citrus, the largest electronics retailer in Ukraine, was faced with the challenge of bridging the gap between online and offline shopping experiences. Despite having a strong online presence with a robust eCommerce website and a mobile app, Citrus wanted to attract more customers into their physical stores to build stronger customer relationships and increase in-store footfall. They had over 500,000 active customers on their mobile app and were keen on leveraging this direct and real-time communication channel to promote new products and announce items on sale. The challenge was to effectively use this platform to drive more foot traffic to their physical stores.

Citrus is the largest electronics retailer in Ukraine, specializing in computer equipment, gadgets, and accessories. With 19 years of experience in a competitive industry, they have grown to 51 stores in 13 cities and have a robust online presence. Customers can shop anytime, anywhere via their innovative mobile app. Citrus is focused on developing strong customer relationships and rewarding loyal customers. They regularly engage with their customers using mobile app messages to promote new products and announce items on sale.
The Solution
Citrus decided to implement a geo-targeted campaign using targeted in-app notifications. In celebration of their 18th anniversary, they planned a special promotion in 10 of their stores in Kyiv. Using the geo-fencing feature within Infobip’s Mobile App Messaging solution, Citrus was able to send location-based push notifications to precisely target certain customers. They sent invitations to 2,600 customers in Kyiv announcing their anniversary campaign. On the day of the event, they targeted only those customers who were near a store, inviting them to join the celebration and receive a 30% discount. The Citrus marketing team used Infobip’s web interface to create a campaign starting with the announcement of the anniversary celebration to relevant customers. A week later, they created a geo-fencing campaign targeting users within 200 meters of 10 stores in Kyiv.
