The Challenge
PetRescue, a nonprofit organization based in Australia, was facing challenges with its image management system. The organization, which helps match vulnerable animals with new homes, relies heavily on its ability to allow users to upload pictures of potential pets. However, the existing system was complex and time-consuming. When a user created a listing, their animal photos had to be uploaded to a front-end server then to an Amazon AWS S3 bucket, queued, manipulated then sent back to S3 and the image updated. This process often resulted in delays and break points, and the organization was unable to offer users any cropping or resizing functionality. Furthermore, the organization was struggling to optimize its website for mobile users, an increasingly important demographic for the site.
About The Customer
PetRescue is a nonprofit organization based in Perth, Australia. Founded in 2004, the organization operates the most visited animal welfare platform in Australia, helping to match thousands of vulnerable animals with new homes. To date, the organization has hosted more than 800,000 listings, helped over 661,000 pets find new homes, and raised over AUS$10m in food and product donations. The organization's website, PetRescue.com.au, has been visited by nearly six million pet lovers and potential adopters. A key feature of the site is the ability for members to upload pictures of potential new animal companions to share with the community.
The Solution
PetRescue decided to implement Cloudinary’s image and video management solutions to streamline its image management process. The organization ran a test program using a few images and, after being satisfied with the results, migrated its entire image database to Cloudinary. The organization now uses Cloudinary’s upload widget to manage its images. This solution has simplified the image uploading process, eliminating the need for images to be queued and manipulated, and has also enabled the organization to offer cropping and resizing functionality to its users. In addition, Cloudinary’s solution has helped PetRescue optimize its website for mobile users.

SAS® Analytics for IoT: Smart Grid
Companies face falling revenues, rising infrastructure costs, and increasing risk of outages caused by inconsistent energy production from renewable sources. Less money is coming in as more people and organizations take steps to curb their energy use. Utilities are paying more to maintain and build infrastructure due to increasing complexity, resulting from the rising number of intermittent and variable renewable energy sources connected in the distribution grid.

Building Smart IoT-Connected Railways
• Difficult environment. Communications equipment on trains must function properly in harsh conditions, such as environment temperatures ranging from -25°C to +85°C, according to the EU standard EN50155.• Railway regulations. All products in a train must adhere to strict standards, relating to working vibration, power consumption, and lifetime.• Lengthy process. Time to market in the railway industry can take years from concept to mass production, so product design requires a solid long term vision.
