The Challenge
Compartamos Banco, the largest microfinance bank in Latin America, faced the challenge of protecting a complex organization that includes 16,000 employees, more than 500 offices, and 2.5 million customers. The bank needed to comply with regulations including National Banking and Securities Commission (CNBV), Federal Law of Protection of Data in Possession of Individuals (LFDPPP), and international standards. The bank's objective was to eradicate financial exclusion by offering basic financial services to the low-income population, and to do so, it needed to ensure the security and protection of its data.

The bank has a complex organization that includes 16,000 employees, more than 500 offices, and 2.5 million customers. The bank is headquartered in Mexico.
The Solution
To address its challenges, Compartamos Banco expanded its existing Forcepoint Web Security to a hybrid on-premises/cloud implementation with integrated data loss prevention (DLP). This solution was chosen to conveniently and cost-effectively deliver protection across 500 offices. The implementation of Forcepoint Hybrid Web Security allowed the bank to better monitor its systems, timely detect attacks and users sending inappropriate information, and strengthen the protection of customer personal data. The solution also changed the role of IT personnel from a maintenance and operational role to a monitoring role that adds value to the operation.
