About The Customer
The customer is a Mid-Atlantic-based consulting firm that provides market research and consulting services for some of the largest companies in the U.S. The firm relies heavily on market data and advanced methods of analysis to advise its clients on strategic marketplace decisions. The company does not handle financial information or HIPAA-regulated data, but it does possess valuable intellectual property that could be detrimental if leaked or exposed. The firm's chief security architect, referred to as 'Jim' in the article, is responsible for the company's cybersecurity measures.
The Solution
To address the security concerns, the firm implemented the Avanan Cloud Security Platform. This platform provided an additional layer of security to protect against hackers. The Avanan platform included Checkpoint Threat Emulation, Checkpoint Antivirus, Solgate Email Protection, and Avanan Smart Phish filter. This solution was chosen because it was affordable, easy to set up and use, and did not interfere with the users' work. The platform also allowed Jim to turn on levels of protections for services that would otherwise be exposed.
