The Challenge
This consumer goods organization sought analytics to consolidate its workforce and business results data so it could easily connect HR initiatives to the bottom line (and vice versa), while also reducing the amount of time the team spent on data gathering and report generation. Additionally, the company wanted to increase the use of data by its HR Business Partners (HRBP) and the rest of the business. Having limited resources, the one-person analytics team knew she’d need a robust solution that would do a lot of the heavy lifting. The organization chose Visier because it could integrate the data sets they needed, and provide out-of-the-box analytics and powerful visualizations that would help business partners better understand and use the data.
About The Customer
This 8,500-person global consumer goods company manufactures and sells its own products in over 80 countries through four distribution channels. As with any consumer goods organization with retail operations and tight margins, operating lean is a necessity. People analytics teams come in all sizes, and for this organization, it’s a team of one. The company sought to leverage data analytics to improve HR initiatives and connect them to business outcomes, while also reducing the time spent on data gathering and report generation.
The Solution
The organization chose Visier for its ability to integrate necessary data sets and provide out-of-the-box analytics and powerful visualizations. The people analytics lead introduced Visier as issues arose, which helped in educating the team and increasing demand for the tool. The initial roll-out involved replacing existing reports and working on new analytic initiatives. Analysts found Visier intuitive and easy to learn, while the people analytics lead focused on upskilling HRBPs to become self-sufficient in using people analytics. Training provided by Visier and additional support from the analytics lead helped HRBPs to effectively use the tool.

Improving Vending Machine Profitability with the Internet of Things (IoT)
The vending industry is undergoing a sea change, taking advantage of new technologies to go beyond just delivering snacks to creating a new retail location. Intelligent vending machines can be found in many public locations as well as company facilities, selling different types of goods and services, including even computer accessories, gold bars, tickets, and office supplies. With increasing sophistication, they may also provide time- and location-based data pertaining to sales, inventory, and customer preferences. But at the end of the day, vending machine operators know greater profitability is driven by higher sales and lower operating costs.
