The Challenge
Assefaz, a non-profit healthcare service provider in Brazil, was grappling with multiple challenges related to data security. The company was using various solutions from different vendors, leading to poor reliability, disparate management, and limited control. The complexity of their security solution was unsustainable and introduced multiple security challenges. Inefficient security tools and applications were unable to support Assefaz’s growing infrastructure. The company also lacked visibility into data traversing its network, posing data leakage and overall network security challenges. Limited control resulted in insufficient security management. Assefaz needed to instill customer confidence, protect personally identifiable information, and maintain PCI compliance as well as state and industry regulations.

Assefaz is a non-profit company established in 1980 that offers healthcare services in Brazil. The company is headquartered in the capital city of Brasilia and employs 1200 people within 60 cities. Assefaz partners with 14,000 hospitals, healthcare clinics, and medical laboratories. The company was facing challenges with data security and needed a solution that could protect sensitive customer data, instill customer confidence, and maintain compliance with PCI and other state and industry regulations.
The Solution
Assefaz adopted the integrated Check Point solution to protect against security threats and data loss. The Check Point DLP (Data Loss Prevention) Software Blade was deployed to detect and block users from distributing sensitive data. The solution also educated employees on proper data sharing policies. When sensitive data was included in an email communication, Check Point DLP automatically notified the security department. Leveraging Check Point’s unique UserCheck technology, the DLP solution enabled employees to review, edit, or discard the communication, reducing the chance of a potential data loss incident. The Check Point MultiSpect data classification engine within DLP identified sensitive information and made accurate decisions to release, block or quarantine the data by combining user, content and process information.
