The Challenge
DiamondStream, a company that provides analytical insights to casinos, wanted to create an online application that would provide casinos with unmatched insight into the marketplace and patron behavior. The company needed a partner that could contribute the analytical expertise and technology on which this new application would be based. The partnership would provide the means for DiamondStream to build a data warehouse that could hold and de-duplicate GCA data and provide an intuitive user interface with online dashboarding capabilities. Using this interface, casinos would be able to answer their most pressing business questions by easily accessing day-level data and drilling-down for more detail as needed.

DiamondStream is a company that leverages its proprietary technology platform to provide analytical insights that help casinos realize the full potential of each patron. The company's sophisticated methodology utilizes actual transactional information directly from the gaming floor, enabling casinos to more easily evaluate and better understand their business results. This also allows them to identify and pursue more effective marketing strategies in order to improve overall performance. DiamondStream's database tracks transactions that represent approximately 40% of the cash circulating on the typical casino floor. By refining and augmenting payments data gathered by Global Cash Access (GCA), DiamondStream delivers unparalleled insight into the marketplace and how individual patrons fit within it to its casino clients.
The Solution
DiamondStream partnered with Birst™ to create Casino Share Intelligence® (CSI), a fully-branded, single sign-on (SSO) application using Birst’s industry-leading, agile business analytics offering. CSI provides casinos with two views. The first, Share Reports, compares the casino’s market position to that of its top competitors and allows segmentation of that information across patron demographic and behavioral groups. The second, Most Valuable Patron (MVP), provides insight into the behavior of the casino’s top 400 patrons, tracking information such as what portion of each patron’s total spend the casino is capturing. Leveraging information provided by MVP, casinos can target an under-performing demographic with a specialized marketing campaign that DiamondStream executes under a separate consulting agreement. The aggregated summary reports in MVP then close the loop by allowing casinos to track the subsequent performance of the targeted group and evaluate the campaign’s success.
