The Challenge
Woosong College's SIMUSIC Department, a renowned institution for music education in South Korea, was facing the challenge of transitioning from analog mixing to digital. The existing C|24 controller was integrated with Pro Tools exclusively, limiting the department's ability to support other popular Digital Audio Workstations (DAWs). The department needed a digital mixing system that would not only facilitate this transition but also provide expanded control options for Pro Tools and other DAWs. The challenge was to find a solution that would be user-friendly for beginner students, yet advanced enough for seasoned professionals. The solution also needed to be durable and reliable, as students would be the primary users.
About The Customer
The customer in this case study is Woosong College's SIMUSIC Department. The department has been home to some of the biggest names in K-Pop and is led by Sung Cheol Lim, an adjunct professor. The department's curriculum covers general music production techniques, with a focus on recording and mixing. Professor Lim's mission is to help his students become truly independent music professionals. The department was in desperate need of an update to its recording studio, where lectures are held. The department's decision to bring in the new Avid S6 system had a far-reaching constructive and innovative impact, as it led to the entire curriculum being renewed and updated.
The Solution
The department decided to add an Avid S6 system to their recording studio. This system enabled more accurate volume control and allowed for innovative workflows, such as connecting third-party DAW software in addition to Pro Tools to the same system. The Avid S6 system was built and designed for world-class professionals, providing an exceptional level of detail. It was intuitive and efficient, making it user-friendly for beginner students. The department also added a host of new equipment, including built-in mic preamps and EQs, external preamps, and compressors. The Avid S6 system was the first of its kind to be installed in South Korea, marking a significant upgrade for the department.

Predictive Maintenance for Industrial Chillers
For global leaders in the industrial chiller manufacturing, reliability of the entire production process is of the utmost importance. Chillers are refrigeration systems that produce ice water to provide cooling for a process or industrial application. One of those leaders sought a way to respond to asset performance issues, even before they occur. The intelligence to guarantee maximum reliability of cooling devices is embedded (pre-alarming). A pre-alarming phase means that the cooling device still works, but symptoms may appear, telling manufacturers that a failure is likely to occur in the near future. Chillers who are not internet connected at that moment, provide little insight in this pre-alarming phase.
