The Challenge
Running a successful business often requires long hours and late nights, especially for shop owners. The back-end work required to keep jobs flowing through the shop can be intense. In the past, this meant that shop owners and their families were tied to the shop, with little freedom to work from other locations. Additionally, there were concerns about data security when considering moving to a web-based software. The fear of releasing company data to another location, especially to the cloud, was a significant barrier to adopting such software.
About The Customer
X-Mil, Inc. is a company that operates a shop. The quality manager, Erica Carpenter, recalls a childhood where her father, who ran the shop, had to work through the night and sleep on the office couch. Their family life revolved around the shop. However, Carpenter wanted a different experience for her own children. She wanted the freedom to work from anywhere, not just the shop, so she could balance her job and family life.
The Solution
The E2 SHOP software, a web-based system, provided the solution Carpenter was looking for. It allowed her to work from anywhere, including home, sporting events, or even the lake. Despite initial fears about data security, Carpenter learned that their data would be stored on a dedicated server monitored by Rackspace, a leading cybersecurity company. This reassured her that their data would be safe. The software also included automatic backup features, which meant that Carpenter no longer had to manually back up the shop's data every night. Updates to the system were also automatic, happening regularly without disrupting operations.

Predictive Maintenance for Industrial Chillers
For global leaders in the industrial chiller manufacturing, reliability of the entire production process is of the utmost importance. Chillers are refrigeration systems that produce ice water to provide cooling for a process or industrial application. One of those leaders sought a way to respond to asset performance issues, even before they occur. The intelligence to guarantee maximum reliability of cooling devices is embedded (pre-alarming). A pre-alarming phase means that the cooling device still works, but symptoms may appear, telling manufacturers that a failure is likely to occur in the near future. Chillers who are not internet connected at that moment, provide little insight in this pre-alarming phase.
