The Challenge
Empik needed a centralised and fully configurable solution that would allow it to optimise its current and evolving supply chain processes. The company experienced strong revenue growth, particularly in its online business, and required a solution to accommodate this growth while maintaining high customer service levels both online and in-store.
About The Customer
Empik is one of the largest multi-channel retailers in Poland, operating nearly 190 stores across the country and a robust online platform. The company offers a wide range of products including books, music, films, games, multimedia, press, stationery, toys, board games, gadgets, and tickets for cultural events. Serving over 28 million customers annually, Empik has seen significant revenue growth, especially in its online segment. To manage this growth and continue providing excellent customer service, Empik sought a solution to optimize its supply chain processes.
The Solution
Empik selected Manhattan Associates' Warehouse Management for Open Systems (WMOS) to support its fulfilment operations. Initially implemented by Empik’s 3PL partner, the system was deployed in Empik’s 270,000 square foot distribution centre in Sochaczew, Poland. After three years of smooth operation, Empik decided to take the solution in-house, adapting it through a series of configuration changes. Manhattan Associates provided full on-site support during the transition to ensure minimal disruption. The switchover was completed smoothly and ahead of schedule, thanks to the professionalism and expertise of Manhattan’s team.
Operational Impact
  • Empik has seen productivity improvements in several areas of its distribution centre operation.
  • The company has generated cost savings and improved overall service levels.
  • Cycle times have been compressed, and order accuracy levels have improved.
Quantitative Benefit
  • Empik operates nearly 190 stores across Poland.
  • The distribution centre in Sochaczew spans 270,000 square feet.
  • Empik serves over 28 million customers annually.
