The Challenge
Floor & Decor, a rapidly growing retailer with over 200 locations and $3 billion in annual revenue, faced the challenge of ensuring comprehensive security for its retail business and development environments. The company needed to protect its business operations, particularly customer data, from potential security threats. The challenge was to implement a solution that could provide robust security for its retail stores and point-of-sale (POS) systems, while also managing strong growth. The company needed to limit false positives and scan for threats and intrusions faster, more seamlessly, and in real-time. The company also sought to reduce the time spent on identifying and handling security vulnerabilities, which was consuming significant staff time and resources.

Floor & Decor is a leading retailer of hard surface flooring and related accessories. The company, headquartered in Smyrna, Georgia, has grown rapidly since its founding in 2000. As of 2022, it operates around 200 retail locations, employs 12,000 people, and generates over $3 billion in annual revenue. The company offers its products to customers through multiple channels. Darius Radford, Security Architect at Floor & Decor, is responsible for understanding the company's security environment, identifying risks, and protecting its business operations. The company's growth and the need to protect customer data have made comprehensive and efficient security a top priority.
The Solution
To address these challenges, Floor & Decor implemented four solutions from Contrast Security: Contrast Protect, Contrast Assess, Contrast Scan, and Contrast SCA. These solutions were used for production and development testing environments. Contrast Protect was implemented to harden security for store servers, POS systems, and the API ecosystem. Contrast Assess was rolled out to address challenges related to false positives and provide real-time monitoring for security threats. Contrast Scan replaced another vendor solution to scan application source code and protect increasing volumes of data and transactions. Contrast SCA was integrated into the development pipeline to secure the software supply chain by identifying critical security vulnerabilities and understanding where third-party components introduce security exposure. The implementation began with a limited subset of stores near the company's headquarters to test the process and functionality.

Moxa was asked to provide a connectivity solution for one of the world's leading cosmetics companies. Ensures Cold Milk in Your Supermarket
As of 2014, AK-Centralen has over 1,500 Danish supermarkets equipped, and utilizes 16 operators, and is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. AK-Centralen needed the ability to monitor the cooling alarms from around the country, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Each and every time the door to a milk cooler or a freezer does not close properly, an alarm goes off on a computer screen in a control building in southwestern Odense. This type of alarm will go off approximately 140,000 times per year, equating to roughly 400 alarms in a 24-hour period. Should an alarm go off, then there is only a limited amount of time to act before dairy products or frozen pizza must be disposed of, and this type of waste can quickly start to cost a supermarket a great deal of money.

Supermarket Energy Savings
The client had previously deployed a one-meter-per-store monitoring program. Given the manner in which energy consumption changes with external temperature, hour of the day, day of week and month of year, a single meter solution lacked the ability to detect the difference between a true problem and a changing store environment. Most importantly, a single meter solution could never identify root cause of energy consumption changes. This approach never reduced the number of truck-rolls or man-hours required to find and resolve issues.
