The Challenge
CGA Ontario faced a significant challenge in maintaining the performance and reliability of its enterprise applications, which include Microsoft SharePoint 2003, Microsoft Exchange 2003, and the Blackboard Academic Suite. With close to 30,000 members and students accessing its network, the existing HP servers were struggling to handle the traffic, leading to performance issues and potential downtime. The organization needed a high-performing, cost-effective server load balancer platform to ensure seamless application delivery and avoid disruptions.
About The Customer
The Certified General Accountants of Ontario (CGA Ontario) is a self-governing body affiliated with the Certified General Accountants Association of Canada. It oversees the professional standards, conduct, and discipline of its members and students in Ontario. The CGA designation is awarded upon successful completion of assignments, national examinations, and a university degree requirement. CGA Ontario represents 19,000 certified general accountants and 9,000 students. The organization provides various enterprise applications to assist its members and students with course selection, online payments, and more, ensuring non-stop service through its Information Services (IS) team.
The Solution
CGA Ontario discovered A10 Networks' Application Delivery Controllers (ADC) through a web search, which highlighted their superior performance and cost-effectiveness. The A10 ADC platform, with its modern symmetric multi-processing (SMP) architecture, allows traffic to utilize multiple CPUs without slowing down, ensuring faster application performance. The platform includes advanced Layer 4-7 features, such as the aFleX scripting feature for traffic redirection and the Advanced Persistence feature for server consistency. The A10 ADC's ease of use, intuitive GUI, and responsive support from A10 engineers facilitated a smooth and effective implementation. The solution provided CGA Ontario with the necessary scalability and performance to handle peak usage conditions and future growth.

With operations in 12 sites across two states and four cities in Brazil, the company employs more than 11,000 people. However, the company realized that to prevent barriers to future expansion, it was essential to make it as easy as possible for its people to work together effectively—even if they were based in separate geographical locations. Traditional approaches to collaboration—based on email and phone calls—threatened to reduce productivity. Flex Contact Center wanted to enable better collaboration and communication across its workforce, but did not want to make large investments in infrastructure.
