The Challenge
Fieldbase was created to address the challenge of designing, documenting, understanding, and communicating information architecture in large systems. The co-founders, Adam Thiesen and Alvin Pingol, identified a gap in the market where existing tools were increasing the problem of information silos by favoring technical roles and abilities. They observed that teams work better both together and autonomously when everyone has more accessible knowledge of system details. However, the challenge was that neither of them were engineers, and they were looking at considerable time and costs to even test their initial ideas with users.
About The Customer
Fieldbase is designed for teams working on large systems who need to design, document, understand, and communicate their information architecture. The app is particularly useful for cross-functional teams where business requirements and technical details need to be understood by all members. The app is currently free for teams to try and give feedback. The co-founders have a background in product and design and have worked in different industries, defining, building, implementing, and refining systems. They have a focus on bringing new ideas into production and believe in the power of no-code tools like Bubble.
The Solution
Fieldbase is an app that helps teams design, document, understand, and communicate their information architecture in large systems. The app allows teams to define and document records, fields, and behaviors in complex systems. They can also add details in each layer of their system and create actionable specs using familiar contexts. These specs can be embedded into existing tools and are easily accessible for everyone on their team. Teams can see how everything is connected with intuitive visuals. This understanding allows everyone to contribute their own perspective and make better decisions with shared knowledge. The app was built on Bubble, a no-code platform, due to its abilities and flexibility.
