The Challenge
The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) was looking to enhance its fleet management system to improve fleet data collection and reporting and to maximize asset lifecycles. The KYTC team identified specific goals for the new fleet management system such as improving fleet efficiency, enhancing staff and systems reporting to identify the true fleet condition, improving fuel reporting to include usage and fuel economy, supporting utilization requirements and reassignments, and facilitating replacement scheduling. To accommodate KYTC’s fleet size (11,000+ vehicles and pieces of equipment) and the broad scope of enhancements, the project required specific development activities. In addition, meeting the system specifications required integration with third-party applications. KYTC also needed to manage staff training for 12 highway districts throughout the commonwealth.
About The Customer
The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) is a state government organization in the United States. It is responsible for the construction, maintenance, and operation of highways, bridges, and related structures, as well as the registration and regulation of motor vehicles. The KYTC manages a fleet of over 11,000 vehicles and pieces of equipment, which are used for various transportation and infrastructure projects across the state. The organization is divided into 12 highway districts, each of which requires staff training and support for fleet management.
The Solution
KYTC collaborated with AgileAssets to implement its enhanced fleet management system. Key components of the system include integration of AgileAssets® Fleet & Equipment ManagerTM with WEX® Fleet One fueling system to incorporate and leverage data for improved reporting and decision-making, true preventive maintenance functionality, quick print options for inventory reports, fleet downtime tracking and utilization reporting, rental rate calculator, streamlined process for system information entry and retrieval, and performance measures aligned with national performance metrics. To support KYTC’s success, AgileAssets provided on-site training to help users maximize the value of the system.
