The APIs are used by tour operators, travel agencies, corporate clients, and app developers. The challenge was to manage the updates to their API endpoints, especially when developing new features. The team needed a way to share, review, and test the changes in real time. They also needed to manage their configuration parameters and access tokens at every subsequent stage of development, from local to test to production.

Their platform is supported by APIs for tour operators, travel agencies, corporate clients, and app developers. Their proprietary technology books over 27 million rooms every year from its inventory of 120,000 properties in over 185 countries. The team adopted Postman Pro for real-time API collaboration. They used the Team Library feature to sync updates to their API endpoints. During the development process, an engineer would share a Postman collection containing the updates. The lead engineer would provide permission to view or edit the collection to various team members who would then subscribe to the collection. The team could review and test the changes, provide feedback, and keep track of updates through the live activity feed. Once the API updates were finalized, the team used shared Postman environment templates to manage their configuration parameters and access tokens at every subsequent stage of development. The Run in Postman button embedded in their APItude developer portal allowed partner developers to begin working in the Hotelbeds Group’s sandbox in a matter of minutes.
