SYSTEX Corporation, a leading Taiwan-based IT services provider, was facing challenges due to disparate systems of data collection and analysis that did not 'talk' to each other. Employees were using many different types of data analytics software and business intelligence systems based on work function and operational requirements. This led to inefficiencies and difficulties in standardizing reporting. The company leadership wanted everyone in the company to be able to work with data like a data scientist.

In 2014, SYSTEX’s consolidated revenue reached US$530 million. SYSTEX provides professional IT services to over 20,000 enterprise and government clients. The company also has a strong distribution network with over 1,500 channel partners. Known for its solid domain knowledge, the company offers more than 60 world-class hardware and software products.
The Solution
SYSTEX became a Tableau re-seller in late 2014 and as employees learned to use the drag-and-drop visual analytics software, interest in using Tableau grew internally. After thorough research and evaluation, the company decided to adopt Tableau across the company as the standard reporting BI tool in December 2014. Workshops were organized to help employees from various departments familiarize with Tableau through hands-on sessions. This approach brought the SYSTEX team to get up to speed on the software swiftly.
Operational Impact
  • Time taken to generate reports have been reduced tremendously from one to two weeks previously to three to four hours currently.
  • Tableau’s interactive dashboards are 'groundbreaking' for many users as they find themselves benefitting from self-service data analysis.
  • Tableau has also allowed SYSTEX staff to communicate better with one another across business units and departments rather than relying solely on IT department.
