The Challenge
Island Insurance, a Hawaii-based property and casualty insurance company, faced a significant challenge in managing its rigorous audit and compliance requirements. The company's Chief Information Officer, Jeff Fabry, recognized that the stringent standards for information handling and tracking in the insurance industry were putting the company at risk due to reliance on manual processes. The company was externally audited every year, and the intensity of privacy, PCI, and identity theft concerns were increasing annually. The company needed a solution that could automate these processes and provide a robust audit trail.

The company offers a full range of personal and commercial insurance coverages and has earned an 'A' (Excellent) financial strength rating from A.M. Best and 'A' (Strong) from Fitch Ratings. The company is in a heavily regulated industry and is externally audited every year. The company's Chief Information Officer, Jeff Fabry, is responsible for managing all IT resources and improving ease of doing business for its partner agents and employees in the headquarter offices.
The Solution
Island Insurance adopted Integrify, a workflow and approval process solution, in September 2007. The company implemented Integrify as an on-site concurrent user license and launched with two processes: datacenter requests and network access requests. The solution provided a visual flow in real-time when processes were being defined, allowing process administrators to debug their processes as they were creating them. This feature enabled Island Insurance to build out process automation from the ground up, adjusting their process until it matched their workflow and maximized efficiency. The company also appreciated Integrify's support for modifying or copying processes once they were defined. The company plans to expand the use of Integrify to other departments, including human resources and insurance authorizations, and to automate additional processes such as username requests and password change requests.
