The Challenge
Visteon Corporation, a leading global automotive supplier, was facing the challenge of streamlining the retrieval of critical data from a variety of ERP systems, legacy environments, and disparate databases for business users. The company was using four different enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems in North America, each creating distinct types of data. Users previously had to log in to each system, gather the data they required, and then manually combine it to generate reports. This process was time-consuming and inefficient. Additionally, the company wanted to create new types of financial reports for employees and supply chain partners.
About The Customer
Visteon Corporation is a leading global automotive supplier that designs, engineers, and manufactures climate, interior, electronic, and lighting products. The company operates in a challenging economic environment and has a forward-thinking business strategy driven by business intelligence (BI) and integration technology. Visteon uses iWay Software’s DataMigrator and several iWay data adapters to manage a diverse set of information systems. The company uses four different enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems in North America, each storing data in a different type of database. Visteon's BI team handles data retrieval, extract, transform, and load (ETL), and migration services with an emphasis on creating cross-functional reports and dashboards for Visteon’s 30,000-member workforce.
The Solution
Visteon Corporation implemented Information Builders' iWay DataMigrator and several iWay data adapters to manage its diverse set of information systems. The company used iWay DataMigrator to pull data from multiple databases into a single reporting database, and it used iWay adapters to connect to various production systems in real time. This allowed Visteon to ensure that everyone sees the same data with the same level of accuracy. The company also used WebFOCUS to create reports and dashboards for people in finance, purchasing, engineering, and other sectors. These users no longer needed to access multiple systems or manually combine data to get the information they needed. Additionally, Visteon created a secure interface to the AP dashboard so suppliers can log in, run reports, and see the status of their receivables in Visteon’s global ERP systems, synchronizing their production and logistics operations.

Integral Plant Maintenance
Mercedes-Benz and his partner GAZ chose Siemens to be its maintenance partner at a new engine plant in Yaroslavl, Russia. The new plant offers a capacity to manufacture diesel engines for the Russian market, for locally produced Sprinter Classic. In addition to engines for the local market, the Yaroslavl plant will also produce spare parts. Mercedes-Benz Russia and his partner needed a service partner in order to ensure the operation of these lines in a maintenance partnership arrangement. The challenges included coordinating the entire maintenance management operation, in particular inspections, corrective and predictive maintenance activities, and the optimizing spare parts management. Siemens developed a customized maintenance solution that includes all electronic and mechanical maintenance activities (Integral Plant Maintenance).
