JEA of Jacksonville, FL, is the seventh largest municipal electric utility company in the United States. Not subject to the same regulations as investor-owned utilities, JEA voluntarily and strategically pursues energy efficiency as a least-cost resource to provide customers with reliable, affordable electricity and support economic development. JEA serves a diverse economy that includes tourism, manufacturing, import-export services, and is a leading transportation and distribution hub with major port operations serving the auto industry. The company needed to develop and manage a portfolio of energy efficiency programs to meet the needs of its wide range of commercial and industrial enterprises while keeping administrative costs low.
The Solution
Nexant was chosen by JEA to design and implement its InvestSmart suite of commercial and industrial energy efficiency programs, including the Small Business Direct Install (SBDI) program. Nexant provided a one-stop, full-service program design, management, marketing, trade ally recruitment and training, and ongoing measurement and verification. They utilized their iEnergy business process management software for real-time tracking, reporting, on-site assessments, application, and rebate processing in one simple platform. Nexant also engaged JEA’s trade ally network to perform site assessments and install energy efficiency improvements, which helped keep administration costs low.
