The Challenge
Kinetic, an app designed to help startups create meaningful relationships, was conceived by founders Kris Eul and Andrew Verboncouer during the pandemic. The primary objective of the app is to assist startups by connecting them with their first hires, advisors, and investors. However, the founders faced a significant challenge. They had a limited budget and time to build a fully functional platform. Moreover, Kris had no technical background, which added to the complexity of the situation. They needed a solution that was user-friendly, cost-effective, and capable of delivering all the necessary features to bring their idea to life.
About The Customer
Kinetic is an app designed to accelerate progress for startups by helping them create meaningful relationships. The app believes in the power of warm introductions over cold outreach and facilitates concierge introductions between aligned professionals with complimentary experiences. When members create a profile, they are asked about their goals and what they are looking to learn and share with the community. Kinetic then makes weekly, hand-curated introductions between aligned professionals. The app also offers office hours that members can host and attend, as well as chat requests for participating members open to additional conversations.
The Solution
The founders chose Bubble, a no-code platform, to build their app. Bubble offered a user-friendly interface and all the necessary features to build a fully functional platform within their budget. Andrew, with his design skills, was able to create and launch the Minimum Viable Product (MVP) during nights and weekends. Bubble's no-code tools allowed them to validate their idea on a shoestring budget of both time and money. The platform also enabled them to be agile in fine-tuning their offering and troubleshoot small bug fixes on the fly. As a result, they were able to build something they were proud to share with the world, despite their limited resources.
Operational Impact
  • Kinetic has seen significant operational success since its inception. One of their notable success stories is the introduction of two members, Michelle and Matt. After a few connections, Michelle offered Matt a critical first sales hire role in her growing startup, which he accepted. Matt was also able to connect with a sales mentor through the platform a few weeks later. This story highlights the potential opportunities that can arise from a well-timed introduction to an aligned professional. Looking ahead, Kinetic plans to build on the momentum from their closed beta over the past nine months. They aim to cater to other industries and add capabilities that will give their community the flexibility of meeting over video or at partnering venues/organization’s events.
