The Challenge
Hellmann Worldwide Logistics, an international supply chain specialist, was facing increasing demands from its third-party logistics (3PL) customers. These customers wanted more insight into the fulfilment process, while also expecting cost savings and increased service levels. Meeting these high customer demands, while reducing internal costs, brought on additional challenges for Hellmann, such as the need to standardize and optimize warehouse operations and ensure they were billing existing customers for every service received. Hellmann also realized the need to provide visibility to customers throughout every step of the logistics process, from tracking portal access to accurate and real-time data and customized reporting. To provide transparency to their customers and keep up with other increasing expectations while reducing costs simultaneously, Hellmann needed a warehouse management solution (WMS) that could help them organize people, processes and resources in order to standardize warehouse operations.
About The Customer
Hellmann Worldwide Logistics is an international supply chain specialist founded in 1871. The company has a worldwide network of 437 branches in 162 countries. The wild geese in Hellmann’s company logo symbolize the way they think ahead to actively shape the future by creating innovative, efficient and customized logistics solutions. The company is in the top 20 list of A&A’s Global Third Party Logistics (3PL) Providers. Hellmann's clientele is diversified and they cater to various industry requirements. They were in search of a warehouse management solution that was easy to use and highly configurable to fit their diversified clientele and industry requirements.
The Solution
Hellmann chose JDA’s Warehouse Management Solution and Extended Third Party Billing to meet their challenges. These solutions allowed Hellmann to standardize operations so processes could be more cross-functional. They were also able to provide customers with a personalized experience without having to compromise their standards, thanks to the high level of configurability JDA’s solutions offer. For example, the company can now leverage cross-functional teams: An operator within a warehouse could work across receiving or loading processes, as opposed to being confined to just one aspect of the operation and site. In fact, JDA’s solutions have also allowed managers and operators to be cross-functional and go to other sites to assist, which is possible because they all have the same core understandings of the processes. JDA’s Third Party Billing Module reduced Hellmann's high administrative costs to ensure customers were being invoiced for every service provided.
