The Challenge
NAMI faced significant challenges with their previous budgeting software, which lacked the flexibility to keep up with the growing needs of the organization. The finance team struggled with version control and accountability issues due to managing over 70 spreadsheets with multiple contributors. This led to a significant amount of time being spent on collecting, distributing, and reviewing spreadsheets, leaving little time for actual analysis.
About The Customer
The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) is America’s largest grassroots mental health advocacy organization. With revenues of $16 million, NAMI is dedicated to building better lives for the millions of Americans affected by mental illness. The organization relies heavily on efficient budgeting, forecasting, and reporting processes to manage its financial operations. NAMI's finance team consists of 30 users who previously used Financial Edge and Adaptive Insights for their financial processes. However, the existing software solutions were not meeting the growing needs of the organization, leading to inefficiencies and challenges in their financial operations.
The Solution
NAMI implemented Vena, a solution that leverages Excel’s familiar interface and flexibility, which contributed to rapid implementation and immediate adoption by the finance team. The centralized OLAP database provided by Vena offered version control and drill-down capabilities that were not possible before. Vena’s training and services teams ensured a painless rollout and seamless integration with existing data sources, making the transition smooth for NAMI. The new system allowed for better data visibility at a granular level, improved collaboration, and enhanced the overall budgeting process.
