The Challenge
Nihondentsu, an ICT consultancy based in Japan, faced a significant challenge in accommodating its rapid growth in network traffic. The company needed to deploy a new solution that would not impact its day-to-day operations and simplify ongoing security management. A critical aspect of this challenge was establishing a seamless link between its 18 offices across Japan. The company aimed to enable all staff to access the latest corporate and customer data securely. However, the VPN solution installed across all branches in 2000 had become unstable and insufficient. As communications across the business increased, the VPNs were unable to cope with higher levels of traffic. The system was complex to manage and difficult to maintain.
About The Customer
Nihondentsu is an ICT consultancy based in Japan, focusing on improving workplace efficiency and creating business agility. With over 50 years of experience in advising businesses on their ICT strategies, Nihondentsu has led clients through numerous digital transformation projects. As the company itself has evolved to become more agile, mobile, and flexible, it has had to adapt its own business strategies and technologies. Nihondentsu has a vast customer base of 28,000 and operates from 18 offices across Japan. The company's goal is to enable all staff to have access to the latest corporate and customer data securely, necessitating a robust and efficient security solution.
The Solution
Nihondentsu deployed Check Point Next Generation Firewalls to address its challenges. The Check Point 700 Appliance provided enterprise security in a simple, affordable, all-in-one solution. It offered automated reporting, scalable deployment, and hands-off setup and configuration, enabling Nihondentsu to protect their employees, networks, and data from cyber theft. The setup could be done in minutes using pre-defined security policies and a step-by-step configuration expert. The Check Point 700 Appliances were manageable both locally via a Web interface and centrally through the Check Point Security Management Portal (SMP). The solution allowed users to connect securely from any device directly or through secure authenticated Wi-Fi for simple cloud management.
