The Challenge
With sustained expansion, Manhattan Beer Distributors needed the right tools to stay in motion. The company was in a growth mode and couldn't continue to operate with standard systems. They needed to match technology to their growth and wanted the best technology available. Prior to 1998, Manhattan Beer had basic routing software and wanted to make the switch from standard routing to dynamic routing to optimize their operations.
About The Customer
Manhattan Beer Distributors is one of the largest beer distributors in the United States, holding an estimated 30 percent share of the New York Beer market. Founded in 1978 and headquartered in the Bronx, the company operates four facilities in New York and services over 18,000 accounts across 14 counties. The company has grown significantly since its inception and continues to expand its operations to meet the demands of its large customer base.
The Solution
In 1998, Manhattan Beer Distributors turned to Roadnet Technologies for their Roadnet and FleetLoader solutions. Roadnet allowed the company to switch from standard routing to dynamic routing, optimizing their routes and maximizing load capacity for their vehicles. This change resulted in a 10 percent reduction in routes and more efficient routing processes. FleetLoader expedited the loading process, making it faster, more organized, and requiring less manpower. The combination of these technologies enabled Manhattan Beer to maintain its presence as a top distributor and continue to grow with minimal effort from an organized loading and routing standpoint.
Operational Impact
  • The routing process became more efficient and proficient, leading to better-routed days.
  • Vehicle usage savings and time savings contributed to improved customer service.
  • Drivers experienced more consistent loads on a daily basis, enabling them to maximize commissions.
Quantitative Benefit
  • 10% reduction in routes.
