The app is centered on the ability to instantly connect with nearby friends while providing its users with privacy controls. As the user base of PinU was quickly growing, it was crucial for the app to verify its users upon registration to confirm their identity and allow them to connect with friends on the app. The challenge was to find a user verification solution that could scale with the app's growth.
The Solution
To address this challenge, PinU integrated the Vonage Verify API into its mobile application. This API allowed PinU to verify its users with their phone numbers upon registration. Users received a verification code over SMS or voice from Vonage, which they entered into the PinU application. Once the user successfully verified their phone number, they gained full, secure access to the app and the ability to invite their friends to join the service. This solution not only provided a secure user verification process but also allowed PinU to focus its engineering resources on developing additional core features instead of a user management backend.
