The Challenge
Rohlig Logistics, a company with over 160 years of experience in global freight forwarding, was in need of a transportation management system (TMS) that could deliver pallet-based rating. This was to serve Rohlig’s many LTL carriers that dealt with very heavy pallets. To the best of Rohlig’s knowledge, no TMS provider had this capability. This posed a significant challenge as it limited Rohlig's ability to efficiently manage and optimize their logistics processes.
About The Customer
Rohlig Logistics is a large enterprise with over 160 years of experience in the global freight forwarding industry. The company prides itself on its ability to navigate the growing complexity of global freight forwarding by combining the professional competence of a large enterprise with its family-owned company values. Rohlig creates tailor-made solutions to improve a client’s logistics processes. In addition to its core business of intercontinental sea freight and air freight, Rohlig also provides services in the complex fields of project logistics and contract logistics.
The Solution
3Gtms provided the solution to Rohlig's challenge by delivering a transportation management system (TMS) that included pallet-based rating capabilities. This included rate-based tariffs that gave Rohlig more flexibility for future rating. The 3Gtms system is a broad and deep, intuitive multi-mode TMS designed for mid to large 3PLS, shippers, brokers, forwarders and other non-asset based transportation companies. It manages the full order-to-cash process in real time and within a single system. It is the only TMS in the world powerful enough to handle the most complicated projects, yet intuitive enough to be used by all transportation professionals. The system encompasses a wide range of features including electronic or web services-based order capture, vendor and customer collaboration, customer and carrier contract management, electronic routing guide management, mode and service level selection, optimal carrier selection, multi-stop TL, LTL and pool distribution optimization, carrier tendering (EDI, carrier portal, Email), spot market integration, status tracking and automated alerts, freight audit, eMatch and pay or auto-pay, and operational and scorecard reporting.
Operational Impact
  • Rohlig was able to land one of its biggest deals to date.
  • Rohlig was able to efficiently and effectively manage the customer’s scale-straining pallets.
