The Challenge
Aon Groep Nederland bv, a provider of risk management, insurance and reinsurance brokerage, was facing challenges in fulfilling its Aon Client Promise, which is fully focused on creating added value and impact. The company was spending various man-hours on manually handling information requests using Microsoft Excel and predefined wordbooks in Oracle. The reports generated were sometimes lacking in uniformity. The company needed a flexible, interactive and associative BI solution that could be quickly implemented. The solution was also required to cater for the requirements of the current business landscape.
About The Customer
Aon Groep Nederland bv is a division of Aon Corporation, based in Chicago, USA. Aon provides businesses with risk management, insurance and reinsurance brokerage. Aon has 10 offices accommodating 1,900 employees in the Netherlands. Its worldwide network with 61,000 employees spans approximately 600 offices in more than 120 countries. This makes Aon one of the world´s largest financial service providers. Aon Nederland´s policy is geared towards the fulfilment of the Aon Client Promise, which is fully focused on creating added value and impact. Crucial aspects in this respect are investing in a 360 degree overview of clients and their corresponding risk profiles, providing in-depth analyses and a powerful execution.
The Solution
Aon Nederland decided to implement a BI solution, QlikView, which was already being used by Aon Australia, Great Britain and Canada to their full satisfaction. The company reserved three days for the Seeing is Believing (SIB) event, with the objective to make data from Salesforce.com, Peoplesoft, Oracle, Microsoft Excel and MS Access available via three dashboards. The development aspect took just a single day, and only half a day was spent on the visual layout of the dashboards. After the SIB event, the Organisation & Automation division was able to take six QlikView applications into production in just a few months time. One of the apps is the Schademonitor [Damage Monitor], which provides clear-cut insight into critical success factors of the damage claim handling process. Another QlikView app developed by Aon Nederland is a Salesforce.com dashboard, which allows users to analyse all CRM data at various different levels using attractive graphs.
Operational Impact
  • Improved customer satisfaction through insight into critical success factors for management processes.
  • Greater effectiveness and efficiency as a result of a reduction in manual information requests.
  • A shift from reactive to proactive and static to dynamic information provision has taken place across the entire organisation.
Quantitative Benefit
  • Implemented a QlikView server in the Aon network, made data available from various sources and built three interactive, dynamic applications in one and a half days.
  • Took six QlikView applications into production in just a few months time.
