The Challenge
BCS Group, a company with three production plants in Italy and a global sales and distribution operation, was concerned about the increasing prevalence of successful cyber attacks worldwide. The company wanted to understand the security exposures that existed in its network and applications and how to fix them. They were looking for a solution that could probe their network, servers, and PCs for vulnerabilities or configuration errors and try to exploit them. The goal was to identify potential risks and implement corrective procedures to improve their security posture.
About The Customer
BCS Group is a company based in Italy with three production plants and a global sales and distribution operation. The company designs and manufactures a range of agricultural and greens maintenance machinery such as mowing machines and tractors, represented by the BCS, FERRARI, and PASQUALI trademarks. BCS Group was one of the first companies to produce a self-propelled riding mowing machine. In addition to agricultural machinery, the company also produces generators and mobile welding equipment, represented by the MOSA trademark.
The Solution
BCS Group partnered with IBM Business Partner NAIS to implement IBM® Security Services – Penetration Testing. IBM's 'white hat' experts used actual hacker tools and techniques to probe the BCS network, servers, and PCs for vulnerabilities or configuration errors and try to exploit them. The week-long probe of network resources employed multiple levels of penetration testing. The results were compiled into a detailed report that prioritized specific recommendations for security improvements. By acting on the prioritized risks and corrective procedures reported by IBM, BCS was able to improve its security posture.
Operational Impact
  • Improved security posture attained by implementing remediation to combat vulnerabilities.
  • Detailed report provided that prioritized specific recommendations for security improvements.
