The Challenge
Regione Marche, the local government body governing the Italian region of Marche, was facing a significant challenge in consolidating multiple firewall solutions from various vendors. The organization was struggling to maintain consistent management across different environments and locations. The situation was further complicated by the need to ensure security continuity for the business and services, given the sensitive nature of the data they handle, including healthcare, financial, and political information. Cyber threats frequently targeted Regione Marche, with attacks ranging from phishing and website defacement to malware and advanced persistent threats aimed at data exfiltration. The organization had five firewall clusters from different vendors deployed across three locations, making it difficult to ensure consistent security across the region due to multiple management tools and dashboards.
About The Customer
Regione Marche is the local government body governing the Italian region of Marche. It is one of Italy's 20 regions, located in central Italy and bordering the Adriatic Sea. The organization manages a wide range of administrative, financial, healthcare, and political services for the area's provinces. In addition to hosting its own services, the Regione Marche's IT organization also hosts services for the regional healthcare system and local authorities. They are responsible for ensuring service continuity and access, as well as securing sensitive healthcare, financial, and other data.
The Solution
Regione Marche decided to consolidate its security infrastructure by deploying Check Point Quantum Security Gateways in each of its data centers. These gateways deliver secure, multi-gigabit threat prevention and zero-day protection throughput, backed by the Check Point Infinity Architecture and ThreatCloud AI technologies. Alongside this, Regione Marche utilized Check Point Virtual Systems to create multiple virtualized security gateways on each Quantum Security Gateway. This feature provided comprehensive protection for VLANs across the organization's locations, securely connecting them to shared resources and each other. It also allowed the IT team to easily manage custom security policies based on each organization's requirements. To unify control and visibility, Regione Marche implemented Check Point's R80 cybersecurity platform, which delivers Security Management that unifies security policy control and visibility of threats across the entire infrastructure.
