The Challenge
Robinsons Brewery, one of the UK's largest regional brewers, was facing a challenge with its existing reporting system. The company had a vast amount of information to manage, stemming from its estate of over 370 public houses and its expansion into wholesale, free trade, off-trade activity, and state-of-the-art brewing and bottling facilities. The existing system was inefficient and expensive, taking up to two weeks to extract data from different sources such as Dynamics NAV, SQL data warehouse, and Excel. This time-consuming process was hindering the company's growth, and a more efficient and economical system was needed.
About The Customer
Robinsons Brewery is a UK-based regional brewer founded in 1838. It is one of the largest regional brewers in the country, with an estate of over 370 public houses stretching from northern Cumbria through the Lake District, North Wales, Cheshire, Derbyshire, and Staffordshire. The company is currently focusing on expanding its wholesale, free trade, off-trade activity, and state-of-the-art brewing and bottling facilities. With such a large estate, Robinsons Brewery has to manage a vast amount of information, which led to the need for an efficient and economical reporting system.
The Solution
In 2010, Robinsons Brewery selected QlikView as its IT supplier after considering various options. QlikView partner Informance was brought in to construct a one-day 'Seeing is Believing' QlikView application based on Robinsons' immediate requirement and specification. The prototype was quickly approved and an enhanced version of the QlikView Business Discovery solution was rolled out. Initially, QlikView was introduced for the use of the Business Development Managers who needed to discuss business performance with the public houses that Robinsons supplies. QlikView's user-driven Business Discovery application allowed the managers to access vital information in an easy-to-analyse format. The solution has since been deployed throughout Robinsons, by different departments, at their request.
