About The Customer
Security7 is a Managed Security Services Provider (MSSP) based in Methuen, Massachusetts. The company helps enterprises leverage IT resources to maintain their competitive advantage. They manage configurations for 250-500 Fortinet firewalls using LM Config. Prior to this, they used an in-house tool for device configuration management. However, the tool was slow and lacked automation, making it difficult to configure and deploy new devices efficiently. The company's Chief Information Security Officer is Ray Scholl.
The Solution
Security7 adopted LM Config to manage device configurations. LM Config simplified the configuration process, requiring only the addition of the hostname and SNMP community string to get a device up and running. This was a significant improvement over their previous tools. LM Config also provided the ability to restore a device using a saved configuration, a feature that added immediate value for Security7's customers. The company could assure new customers that they could have a replacement configured and service restored within as little as 4 hours. Furthermore, LM Config's user interface was a key advantage over vendor-specific tools, making it easy to quickly click between the running configuration and the performance data for a device.
