The Challenge
Fly High Airway, a major domestic and international airline, was facing challenges with their existing email security solution, Proofpoint. The airline was not satisfied with the efficiency of their email catch rate and was looking for better protection for their Microsoft Teams account, which they heavily relied upon for internal communications. The airline was also seeking a solution that was cloud-native and connected via API. The airline's CISO, Sebastian Thompson, was not happy with the number of phishing emails that were getting through on a regular basis. The airline was also interested in Microsoft Teams protection. They needed a solution that could stop email threats before they hit the inbox, and protect Teams and other collaboration apps.

Fly High Airway is a major domestic and international airline. The airline has stringent security requirements due to the heavily regulated nature of the industry. Airlines are party to numerous treaties and protocols that govern cybersecurity. This applies to cyberattacks against the aircraft itself, as well as email security. An industry with tons of data and personal information, airlines are often on the receiving end of thousands of phishing attacks. Fly High Airway heavily relies on Microsoft Teams for communication. It’s used in-flight, by customer service and other internal teams.
The Solution
Fly High Airway decided to switch to Check Point Harmony Email & Collaboration. This cloud email security platform uses APIs to block phishing, malware, and data leakage in the line of communications traffic. It catches threats missed by Microsoft while adding a transparent layer of security for the entire suite that also protects other collaboration tools like Slack. The solution connects in seconds via API and blocks emails before reaching the inbox. It also offers a detailed dashboard that updates administrators on security issues with usage in Teams. Check Point Harmony Email & Collaboration logs the total number of users, files, shares, links, logins, channels and threat detections. The solution also controls access to confidential data, quarantines malicious content and informs users of security events.

The manufacture and assembly of massive fuselage assemblies and other large structures generates a river of data. In fact, the bill of materials for a single fuselage alone can be millions of rows of data. In-house production processes and testing, as well as other manufacturers and customers created data flows that overwhelmed previous processes and information systems. Spirit’s customer base had grown substantially since their 2005 divestiture from Boeing, resulting in a $41 billion backlog of orders to fill. Spirit had a requirement from customers to increase fuselage production by 30%. To accomplish this goal, Spirit needed real-time information on its value chain and workflow. However, the two terabytes of data being pulled from their SAP ECC was unmanageable and overloaded their business warehouse. It had become time-consuming and difficult to pull aggregate data, disaggregate it for the needed information and then reassemble to create a report. During the 6-8 hours it took to build a report, another work shift (they run three per day) would have already taken place, thus the report content was out-of-date before it was ever delivered. As a result, supervisors often had to rely on manual efforts to provide charts, reports and analysis.
