The Challenge
Ramsay Pharmacy, a part of the global hospital group Ramsay Health Care, was facing a significant challenge in managing its digital assets. The pharmacy franchise, which includes over 60 community pharmacies and 40 hospital dispensaries, relied heavily on its small marketing team for all its assets. The Senior Graphic Designer, Troy Schindler, was responsible for handling all design work, including promotional catalogs, local area marketing, and images for communications and social media. The challenge was the sprawling nature of their digital assets, which were stored across multiple servers, leading to difficulties in accessibility and version control. The team needed to keep logos, product, and lifestyle images organized and easily accessible to collaborators. The process of searching for the right asset across different servers was time-consuming and slowed down the workflow, creating bottlenecks and pressure on the team.
About The Customer
Ramsay Pharmacy is a part of Ramsay Health Care, a global hospital group founded by Paul Ramsay in 1965. With 480 facilities across 11 countries, it is one of the largest and most diverse private healthcare companies in the world. The Ramsay Pharmacy franchise includes over 60 community pharmacies and 40 hospital dispensaries, relying on a small marketing team for all their assets. The team is led by Senior Graphic Designer Troy Schindler, who handles all design work for the pharmacy group, including promotional catalogs, local area marketing, and images for communications and social media.
The Solution
Ramsay Pharmacy turned to Canto, a digital asset management (DAM) solution, to streamline their asset management process. With Canto, Ramsay Pharmacy was able to organize all their assets in a structured library, introducing a new naming convention and updating metadata in bulk, making it easier to file and search. Canto's features, such as integration with Adobe InDesign, bespoke Portals, and metadata import, were identified as beneficial for the department. Canto Portals allowed Troy to create separate access for internal teams and external designers, ensuring that they could self-serve the resources they needed. This eliminated the need for ad-hoc requests for logos, images, or presentations. The Portals were password protected, ensuring the security of brand images, logos, templates, and product images. Additionally, Canto's advanced download options allowed the team to resize, crop, and compress any image on the fly, reducing the burden on the in-house designer and speeding up the process.
Operational Impact
  • The implementation of Canto has brought about significant operational improvements for Ramsay Pharmacy. The marketing team is now more productive and can meet their deadlines more efficiently. The process of collecting and searching for assets has been simplified, and the stream of disruptive emails requesting images has ended. The ability to resize, crop, and compress any image on the fly has reduced the burden on the in-house designer and sped up the workflow. The use of Canto upload links has also smoothed out workflows, allowing the merchandise team to upload directly into the correct album in Canto, from where the external designer can pick up the files hassle-free through their Portal.
Quantitative Benefit
  • Canto has significantly reduced the time spent searching for assets across multiple servers.
  • The marketing team's productivity has increased due to the streamlined asset management process.
  • The number of ad-hoc requests for logos, images, or presentations has been significantly reduced.
