The Challenge
Posterscope, a location-based marketing agency of Dentsu Aegis Group, was faced with the challenge of innovating the way brands are built by leveraging location intelligence. The agency aimed to connect brands with Out-of-home (OOH) audiences at the right moment, making communication more personal, contextual, and relevant. The challenge was to understand the location of these moments and use this information to develop efficient communication solutions. The retail industry was evolving beyond transactions, with activation, engagement, and transactions becoming closer than ever at any touch point. Posterscope needed to adapt to this change and make retail more experiential using location and data. Despite the rapid growth of ecommerce, physical retail was still a significant contributor to the global industry. The challenge was to apply the concepts that made ecommerce grow so fast, such as contextuality and data analysis, to physical retail.
About The Customer
Posterscope is a location-based marketing agency that is part of the Dentsu Aegis Group, a global communication group that offers holistic communication solutions to brands. Posterscope specializes in location strategy within communication solutions, making it the location solution within the Spanish group of Dentsu Aegis. The agency has 12 offices in Spain and more than 70 clients with which it has been building success together and efficient solutions based on location. Posterscope is the biggest location marketing agency worldwide and aims to redefine marketing through Location Intelligence.
The Solution
Posterscope partnered with CARTO to create a platform called Geoxymity, which uses Location Intelligence and third-party data to understand and build audiences, as well as personalizing their experience before visiting a store. The platform also identifies 'influence occasions' or trigger moments when the consumer is in the perfect moment to be impacted. The platform uses over ten different data streams, some of them in real time, to understand the audience from an attitudinal perspective and track their shopping behaviors and routines. This allows Posterscope to leverage all the steps in the customer journey and define the best moments and locations to target a specific customer. The platform also creates brand data ecosystems, similar to what brands are doing in ecommerce. Geoxymity is built in four modules: management and planning, multi-channel campaign activation, reporting and optimization, and intelligence. The platform is capable of ingesting different datasets, correlating them, and identifying the areas and moments to leverage.
Operational Impact
  • The implementation of the Geoxymity platform has allowed Posterscope to redefine the way they work in retail and proximity marketing. The platform has enabled the agency to move from traditional media planning to planning based on audience and real-time data. It has also allowed the activation of dynamic content triggered by audiences or context in real-time, and the transition from traditional reporting measurement to a dynamic dashboard and optimization based on business results. The platform has also enabled the creation of brand data ecosystems, not only in digital but also in physical retail, which is still relevant in the global retail industry. This has resulted in more personalized and relevant interactions along the consumer journey, driving relevant connections which are a key element in marketing today.
Quantitative Benefit
  • Achieved a 230% increase of visitors for an automotive client by using the XY technology to analyze the audience for specific areas and launch a digital and OOH campaign.
  • Over ten different data streams connected, some of them in real time, providing a high granularity of information.
  • Geoxymity platform allows real-time management and planning of all campaigns, enabling efficient use of resources and immediate response to market changes.
