Apiiro, a cloud-native application security platform, was faced with the challenge of providing complete visibility of all application components to security and development teams. This was crucial in order to map the application attack surface and proactively remediate critical risks before releasing to the cloud. The complexity of security issues was increasing as software development accelerated and businesses used agile models to deploy more apps at a faster rate. Traditional application security tools were proving ineffective in improving a company's security posture due to the intricate combination of multiple factors that contribute to risks. Furthermore, Apiiro needed to ensure near-perfect uptimes to deliver resilience and grow its business on Google Marketplace.
Apiiro is a cloud-native application security platform based in Israel. The platform is designed to help security and development teams gain complete visibility by discovering all application components like APIs, services, dependencies, and sensitive data. This enables them to map the application attack surface and proactively remediate critical risks before releasing to the cloud. Apiiro was created by co-founders Yonatan Eldar and Idan Plotnik, who experienced the expansion of security needs first-hand when their previous startup saw massive growth. The platform is built on distributed microservices and was designed with the speed of development in mind.
Apiiro developed a new kind of application security platform, leveraging Google Cloud to deliver resilience with near-perfect uptimes. The platform was designed to help businesses break down barriers between security and developers. With specialized dashboards, development and security teams could gain comprehensive visibility into their assets and repositories, enabling them to identify and remediate risks quickly, both on-premises and in the cloud. Apiiro also enlisted support from Google Cloud partner DoiT International to optimize their Google Cloud environment. They used Google Kubernetes Engine to run their workflows in containers and securely stored their container images in Container Registry. To boost developer productivity, Apiiro utilized intuitive Google Cloud tools and simple authentication with Google Workspace.
