The Challenge
Armadillo Rent was founded by Daniel González and his brother to help their father, a contractor in Mexico, rent out his unused construction equipment during off-seasons. The construction industry is seasonal, leading to periods of intense work followed by long periods of unemployment. This situation led to a lot of heavy equipment lying idle during the off-season. The challenge was to connect construction companies that own heavy equipment with those looking to rent it. Additionally, they needed a system that would allow equipment owners to keep track of their inventory while it was being rented out. The founders of Armadillo Rent had no coding experience or significant funds to develop a traditional app.
About The Customer
Armadillo Rent primarily serves construction companies in Mexico. These companies either own heavy equipment that they want to rent out during off-seasons or are looking to rent such equipment. The construction industry in Mexico is seasonal, leading to periods of intense work followed by long periods of unemployment. During these off-seasons, a lot of heavy equipment lies idle. Armadillo Rent provides a platform for these companies to monetize their idle equipment by renting it out to other companies. The app also allows these companies to keep track of their inventory while it is being rented out.
The Solution
Armadillo Rent discovered Bubble, a no-code tool that allowed them to build a business with no coding experience. They used Bubble's visual web editor to create an app that connects construction companies that own heavy equipment with those looking to rent it. The app also allows equipment owners to keep track of their inventory while it is being rented out. Renters can search for their equipment needs in the inventory, similar to Amazon or other marketplaces, and view an owner’s profile before deciding to rent from them. The app's design and method are sensitive to the cultural needs of Mexican communities. Armadillo Rent plans to launch a full credit service using Bubble, allowing users to rent with credit provided by Armadillo Rent.
Operational Impact
  • Armadillo Rent has been successful in solving a significant problem in the Mexican construction industry. By providing a platform for companies to rent out their idle heavy equipment, it has helped these companies generate revenue during off-seasons. The app has also made it easier for companies looking to rent equipment, providing them with a wide range of options and the ability to view an owner’s profile before deciding to rent. The company has been able to adapt to users’ needs, even during the challenging circumstances of the COVID-19 pandemic, demonstrating its resilience and adaptability. The founders have also gained valuable business and technical skills by using Bubble's no-code tool.
Quantitative Benefit
  • Armadillo Rent has grown quickly since its inception.
  • The company has successfully raised venture capital funds twice with the help of Bubble.
  • The app has been able to adapt to users’ needs, even during the challenging circumstances of the COVID-19 pandemic.
