The Challenge
Fractal Design, a leading manufacturer of premium PC hardware, was facing a significant challenge in managing and controlling the distribution of digital assets related to product launches. The company works with a global network of distributors and resellers to launch its innovative products. However, ensuring these partners received the necessary assets to create quality product listings for their online stores was proving difficult. Initially, Fractal Design relied on Dropbox to share assets, but this method lacked the control and visibility they needed. The company then attempted to implement a digital asset management (DAM) platform, but this first attempt was disappointing and did not meet their specific needs.
About The Customer
Fractal Design is a forward-thinking industry leader in PC gaming hardware, known for its innovative designs, elegant aesthetics, and unmatched build quality. Founded in 2007 in Sweden, the company initially started with fans and power supplies before gaining global recognition for its series of cases, which won multiple prestigious awards. Today, Fractal Design offers a wide range of products that combine functionality with aesthetic appeal. The company operates offices around the world and does business in more than 60 countries.
The Solution
Fractal Design turned to Canto, a robust digital asset management platform, to enhance visibility and control over product assets. The first step was to create a single source of truth for all product assets, including photos, videos, and PDFs. These assets were placed in the Canto library and tagged for easy location. The team then used Canto’s Portal functionality to create a tiered system for sharing assets with distributors. When a new product was set to launch, assets were sent to launch partners 14 days ahead of the release date via a portal called the “Fractal Asset Bank.” This portal contained product assets and new content under strict embargo. The platform also required partners to agree to terms and conditions before downloading embargoed assets. This system provided Fractal Design with greater control over who could access product assets and when.
Operational Impact
  • The implementation of Canto has provided Fractal Design with better control and visibility over their product assets, leading to more successful product launches. The company can now manage permissions through Canto Portals to ensure that only launch partners can download content ahead of a new release. This has eliminated the need to chase down Dropbox links to see who had access to embargoed materials. The feedback from the company's sales representatives has been overwhelmingly positive, as this solution was exactly what they had been waiting for. With Canto in place, Fractal Design has made it easier to create high-quality listings while ensuring that embargoed products remain safely under wraps until their release date.
