The Challenge
Carlsberg UK required a web based Monitoring & Targeting (M&T) System for multiple plants and distribution depots throughout the UK. They needed a system that could import and calculate weekly KPI data against targets for multiple utilities, as well as analyze production data and calculate plant efficiency. They also required the ability to manage data imports from a wide range of meters and intuitive access for non-technical users. Additionally, they needed an energy solution to distribute alarms automatically via email and display hourly dashboards at department operator level.
The Customer

Carlsberg

About The Customer
Carlsberg UK is a subsidiary of the Carlsberg Group and is the UK’s fourth largest brewer. They employ around 1,800 staff across 16 sites in the UK. They have a weekly meeting with user departments to review MRI eSight dashboards and make changes to enhance productivity and achieve energy savings.
The Solution
Carlsberg UK chose MRI Software's eSight to manage energy usage throughout the brewing process. MRI eSight allows them to monitor the efficiency of their brewing processes and optimize for best performance, thus saving on bottom line costs. It enables them to monitor activities such as compressed air generation and excessive water usage. The system also generates alarms to alert high usage in specific meters, linked to production for early reaction and intervention. The system is managed by the Carlsberg UK onsite systems team and facilitated to user departments by the Energy Center Manager & the Water and Effluent Continuous Improvement Manager.
Quantitative Benefit
  • Carlsberg UK has achieved a 10% reduction in overall energy consumption, improved recovered energy from the brewing process, reduced site water consumption by 10%, and reduced effluent cost by 16%.
