The Challenge
APIS IT d.o.o., a company that designs, develops, implements, and maintains information systems for the Republic of Croatia and the city of Zagreb, was facing a challenge with its increasingly complex technology environment. The company maintains a large and diverse array of systems, including mainframe and other types of servers. With the constant changes and additions to their systems, they needed a comprehensive monitoring solution that could integrate monitoring data from multiple systems to provide one view into its IT operations. This was crucial for them to continue delivering on their service level agreements (SLAs) and providing high-quality service to their customers.
About The Customer
APIS IT d.o.o. is a company that designs, develops, implements, and maintains information systems for the Republic of Croatia and the city of Zagreb. The company has been in operation for more than 50 years and took the name APIS IT in 2005. It is based in Zagreb, Croatia, and has approximately 400 employees. APIS IT maintains a large and diverse array of systems, including mainframe and other types of servers. The company's technology environment is constantly changing, with new additions to their systems and new services being added regularly. To deliver high-quality service to their customers and meet their service level agreements (SLAs), APIS IT needed a comprehensive monitoring solution that could integrate monitoring data from multiple systems and provide a single view into its IT operations.
The Solution
To address this challenge, APIS IT implemented IBM® Service Management Suite for z/OS® and IBM Service Management Unite software. These applications provided a single point of control (SPOC) for systems management, allowing APIS IT to automatically gather monitoring data from all of its systems, including hardware and software resources. Employees could access information through predefined dashboards included in the IBM applications. The flexibility of these applications also allowed them to integrate third-party data from systems that weren't on the mainframe. This comprehensive view into its IT operations enabled APIS IT to be more proactive in managing its IT infrastructure.
Operational Impact
  • The IBM software provided a comprehensive view into APIS IT's IT operations, integrating data from various systems to provide a single point of view.
  • The solution enabled APIS IT to be more proactive in managing its IT infrastructure, allowing them to address issues before they become problems.
  • The flexibility of the IBM applications allowed APIS IT to integrate third-party data from systems that weren't on the mainframe, further enhancing their monitoring capabilities.
Quantitative Benefit
  • Achieved 99.91% availability under revised SLAs
