The Challenge
De Swinhove Groep, a healthcare provider for senior citizens in the Netherlands, was facing major challenges due to the rising costs in the care sector. The Dutch government was promoting homecare and shifting the responsibility for the use of budgets towards care institutions. This meant that care providers like De Swinhove Groep had to minimize building operation costs and optimize Total Cost of Ownership. The group wanted to develop a high-grade information organization and quickly integrate changes in management control information. They needed a business partner that was familiar with complex healthcare processes as well as business intelligence.
About The Customer
De Swinhove Groep provides intensive care, healthcare services and tailored residential care arrangements for senior citizens in a municipality in the Netherlands. It does so based on the vision that the elderly should continue to function independently as long as possible. De Swinhove Groep offers tailored solutions for both short-term and long-term care as well as daytime activities. It also offers small-scale living arrangements with high-grade care services in an environment that is very similar to the clients’ familiar domestic situation. Finally, the group operates a care hotel for, among others, rehabilitation programs. De Swinhove Groep employs a staff of approximately 500, while another group of over 500 volunteers actively promote the well-being of its clients.
The Solution
De Swinhove Groep selected QlikView Business Discovery for the implementation of a dashboard and analysis and reporting solution for financial, HR and productivity data. They started small, with the development of a QlikView application that used data from its financial system. This application provided insights into revenues, personnel costs and material costs, on an organization-wide scale as well as for each budget holder. Based on these insights, they were able to signal trends and anomalies and evaluate investments with an aim to improve their operational results. After delivering the financial QlikView application, they also made other sources available, such as Beaufort, Plancare and Ortec Harmony. They developed QlikView applications for HR information and Product information based on this data.
