The Challenge

Doctors Without Borders Italy, the Italian entity of the international medical-humanitarian organization Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), was facing critical human resources needs. The organization was struggling with the management of selection and onboarding processes for staff at the Italian headquarters. This included interns, promoters dedicated to acquiring new donors with a regular contribution to MSF, and the humanitarian projects team in Italy, responsible for selecting workers for specific projects in the country. The organization needed a solution to streamline these HR processes, improve communication between the organization, new hires, and employees, and collect and analyze data to verify the ROI of job boards and channels used to advertise vacancies.

About The Customer

Doctors Without Borders Italy is the Italian branch of the international medical-humanitarian organization Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF). The organization is dedicated to providing medical assistance to people affected by conflict, epidemics, disasters, or exclusion from healthcare. The Italian entity is responsible for recruiting and onboarding staff for the Italian headquarters, including interns, promoters for acquiring new donors, and the humanitarian projects team responsible for selecting workers for specific projects in the country.

The Solution

MSF Italy launched the “Digitalizing HR” project, which was based mainly on the adoption of the Applicant Tracking System and Talent Assessments. The entire candidate lifecycle is now handled within the iCIMS Talent Cloud. This platform allows MSF to streamline the HR processes for selecting candidates and onboarding new hires, improve both the talent and recruiter experience through enhanced communication, and collect and analyze data and indicators. With iCIMS, MSF can create job descriptions in a digital format, publish job descriptions on various platforms, prescreen the candidate pool, set up pre-screening questions, and create personalized dashboards. The digitization of the onboarding process has also improved the candidate experience and made internal processes more effective by creating personalized paths based on the needs of the organization and its candidates.

Operational Impact
  • The implementation of the iCIMS Talent Cloud has significantly improved the HR processes at MSF Italy. The platform has streamlined the selection and onboarding processes, making them more efficient and effective. It has also enhanced the communication between the organization, new hires, and employees, ensuring a smoother workflow between recruiters, hiring managers, and other departments involved in the selection and onboarding processes. Furthermore, the ability to collect and analyze data and indicators has enabled MSF to verify the ROI of job boards and channels used to advertise vacancies. The digitization of the onboarding process has not only improved the candidate experience but also made internal processes more effective by creating personalized paths based on the needs of the organization and its candidates.
