equalityMD, a multi-awarded telemedicine and wellness portal for the LGBTQ+ community, was facing challenges with taking accurate meeting notes and staying engaged in the meeting simultaneously. The company continuously collaborates with different vendors and partners, and the discussions from these meetings needed to be accurately recorded for future reference. However, the manual process of taking down minutes was proving to be inefficient and distracting. equalityMD is a telemedicine and wellness portal specifically designed for the LGBTQ+ community. The company was initially an LGBTQ+ multimedia/marketing company, then shifted to an LGBTQ+ consumer behavioral data analytics company, before finally evolving into its current form. The transformation was prompted by the stories of LGBTQ+ patients seeking inclusive doctors and vice versa. equalityMD aims to solve significant healthcare problems faced by the LGBTQ+ community, including healthcare discrimination. The platform provides professional healthcare services to LGBTQ+ people and also features a marketplace offering health and wellness products made by the LGBTQ+ community.

The Solution

The solution to equalityMD's challenge came in the form of Fireflies, an AI meeting assistant that automates the process of note-taking during meetings through transcription. Fireflies was recommended to the equalityMD team by one of their co-workers. The AI assistant can accurately transcribe both live, ongoing meetings and audio files of meetings that have been uploaded to Fireflies. It can also transcribe video files stored in Google Drive or any cloud-storage system that integrates with Zapier. To ensure the best transcription output, Fireflies recommends speaking clearly and concisely during the meeting, minimizing ambient noise, and using a good microphone. Additionally, Fireflies offers a custom vocabulary feature for Pro and Business tier subscribers, allowing users to enter proper nouns and phrases they often use, which the AI assistant will learn and incorporate into the transcriptions.
