The Challenge
GOAL Academy, an online charter school, faced challenges in effectively utilizing data to keep students on track and align staff with key performance indicators (KPIs). The school relied on various data resources like Google Docs, Excel spreadsheets, and different servers, which made it difficult to create a consistent format accessible online. The institution needed a modern tool to better visualize and understand the data, and to merge multiple platforms into one place. The goal was to find a web-based tool capable of processing data from different sources to help teachers make quick decisions in the classrooms and improve student retention and graduation rates.

GOAL Academy is an online charter school and Colorado’s second-largest blended learning high school. The school caters to students who have dropped out from previous academic institutions and are looking to complete their high school education. As an online academic institution, GOAL Academy has the unique privilege to evaluate and monitor data relating to students and the administration. The institution felt the need for modern tools to better visualize and understand the data to improve student outcomes and align staff with the institution's vision and mission. Daniel Colussi, the Director of Innovations at GOAL Academy, was responsible for finding such a tool.
The Solution
Daniel Colussi evaluated nine different tools to find a solution that met his criteria, which included a quick and non-technical setup, the ability to merge different data resources, web accessibility, and attentive customer support. Sisense stood out due to its simple and straightforward demo setup, dynamic and flexible web-based tool, and the ability to merge data from various platforms. Daniel was able to install and start using Sisense within 10 minutes without needing IT support. The evaluation process was smooth, with a friendly and knowledgeable sales team that allowed Daniel to focus on the potential value of Sisense. Once Sisense was chosen, Daniel worked to get staff and vendors on board, configured Sisense to pull in data from various sources, and created dashboards to track KPIs. Fundacio Puigvert, a leading European medical center specializing in Urology, Nephrology, and Andrology, faced a significant challenge in training its surgical residents.
