The Challenge
Good Health, a manufacturer and distributor of natural health products, was facing several challenges. The company was receiving multiple report requests from internal employees and external partner companies. There was a high volume of ad hoc communications among company employees, and there was no efficient way to track the manufacturing and distribution of products. Furthermore, the company had little insight into which product lines weren’t selling. The company's ERP system, while housing the necessary data for business operations, was increasingly difficult and time-consuming for reporting. The rise in requests for different reports from staff members was becoming burdensome as each report had to be manually prepared.
About The Customer
Good Health is a New Zealand-based company that manufactures and distributes natural health products. Established in 1987 as a family-owned business, the company has grown significantly over the years. From a small family-run operation, Good Health has transformed into a sizeable business with more than 50 employees, exporting to over 20 countries worldwide. To support its continued growth, Good Health moved to a purpose-built manufacturing facility in Auckland in 2005. The company also implemented an ERP solution with Exact Software to manage the increasing amount of data generated across the organisation. Good Health's core staff consists of 58 employees.
The Solution
Good Health implemented QlikTech’s business discovery solution, QlikView Server, in March 2012. The product was deployed to support its manufacturing, sales, and marketing functions, with plans to also implement the product in its finance department. QlikView is accessed via company desktops and on iPads across New Zealand, as well as by an external partner company overseas. The product’s ability to integrate smoothly with existing infrastructure meant that deployment and staff training was quick and simple. QlikView's web-based interface and click-through functionality made it user-friendly and allowed the company to begin using the software almost immediately after a short training session.
Operational Impact
  • QlikView’s ability to provide an end-to-end business solution has allowed Good Health to identify new insights and create efficiencies across the organisation - from manufacturing and distribution to the company’s marketing and business partnerships.
  • In its manufacturing division, the power of QlikView to combine data from multiple sources means the technology has proven to be a significant time saver and discovery tool.
  • Good Health uses QlikView to manage the product sampling process and identify any delays in the turnaround of raw materials, leading to higher productivity rates.
